I have been preparing taxes professionally since the many changes in 1996. Before that, I prepared taxes for family members beginning in 1986, another year marked by many tax law changes.
In 1998, after just two years of working as a tax professional, I chose to take the Internal Revenue Service's Special Enrollment Examination. Passing this exam allowed me to apply for, and receive, Enrollment to Practice with the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled Agents are specially licensed to represent taxpayers at Exams, Appeals and Conference divisions of the Internal Revenue Service. This allows me to not only give tax advice and prepare tax returns, but to also to stand in, or act, as a taxpayer's agent when dealing with the Internal Revenue Service or the Arizona Department of Revenue as well as many other state revenue departments.
In 2002, I started my own tax preparation firm catering to individuals and businesses offering home and office visits. By using a laptop and a portable printer, I am able to visit with clients where they are most comfortable.
In the fall of 2003, I formed a partnership with Jeff and Roxanne Augenstein, a husband and wife tax professional team. I believe this addition will allow me to better serve my existing clients while allowing for expansion of our combined practices. Together we offer tax and financial services including home mortgages, health and life insurance using a wholistic approach our clients needs.
In 2004, I joined with other Enrolled Agents to charter the High Country Society of Enrolled Agents as the Vice President.
