We work with numbers, but we work for people!Neils Mickelson - Jeff Augenstein - Roxanne Augenstein - Linda Vasquez
My career in tax preparation began in 1983 preparing taxes for a major tax firm. In 1994, I became an Enrolled Agent which is registered with the IRS. This “opened the door” for me to ALL phases of tax preparation and representation. In the summer of 2004, I joined Northern Arizona Financial Services, LLC. Through the expertise that I have gained, my goal for my clients is that they receive the highest quality of representation before the IRS.
The first 30 years of my working life was occupied with teaching Science and Spanish at the East Flagstaff Junior High School in Flagstaff, Arizona. Being a teacher taught me to always be flexible but maintain definite objectives. I have carried this knowledge into my work with taxes and representation. During this period of time, it has been my distinct privilege to meet some of the most interesting and pleasant people through tax and financial work. Each year I look forward to seeing my clients and hearing what’s new in their lives and how the economy has affected them. Es un placer grande para ml liegar a conocer a Ia gente de hablar espaflol. Me gustarla mucho en ayudarles con Ia preparaclon de los papeles pam los impuestos. Que les vaya bien!
Hello - my name is Jeff Augenstein. My wife and I opened the doors of Northern Arizona Financial Services in May of 2003 after I spent eight years with a well-known tax preparation chain. The business has been successful and I look forward to many more years of rewarding experience I have found it to be.
I became a tax professional in 1996 preparing 1995 tax returns. I furthered my career in 2002 by passing the Enrolled Agent's Exam and becoming an Enrolled Agent.
I feel that there was a need for people to have a better experience with their tax professional and also that I could provide many more services to our clients in addition to simply preparing their taxes, such as in-depth tax representation. No case is too small or too large for our office to handle, as I feel everyone deserves representation.
As the years have gone by, we have found ourselves developing a specialty of solving tax cases and assisting with client's IRS situations nationwide. At this time our firm specializes in all aspects of tax preparation, tax representation, and tax planning. Our office is unique in the respect that most of us are Enrolled Agents and are able to represent clients before the IRS. Given any economic situation, we are proud to be able to assist those who need us.
Hello – my name is Roxanne Augenstein. My husband Jeff and I started this business in 2003 after I spent 7 years doing taxes at a well-known tax preparation chain. In 2004, I passed the Enrolled Agent Exam, and in 2005 achieved the Enrolled Agent status. The Enrolled Agent is the only designation licensed by the Internal Revenue Service.
As the years have progressed with the business, it became evident that there was a need to provide payroll/bookkeeping services for clients so I took it upon myself to learn the payroll and sales tax process and be certified in those areas. I prepare tax returns but spend most of my time processing payroll and sales tax.
This office handles many representation cases. When we get a case that involves payroll and/or sales tax problems, my function is to help with resolution of those cases.
Hello – my name is Linda Vasquez and I started working for Northern Arizona Financial Services in 2006. After graduating from college, I began a career in accounting which I pursued for several years. I became interested in taxes after conversing with the owner of the office, Jeff, and realized that my time and talent could be better spent in a profession that has proven to be more rewarding than I expected.
I am currently in the process of becoming an Enrolled Agent and have passed two parts of a three-part exam given by the IRS. The exam consists solely of tax subject matter and requires a rigorous study schedule. Upon completing the final part and achieving my EA designation, I would like to continue to gain experience at NAFS and eventually run their satellite office in Phoenix. Time and talent could be better spent in a profession that has proven to be more rewarding than I expected.
Currently my primary function is to gather financial information from clients and assist with representation by giving my opinion after asking clarifying questions. In doing this, I have been able to create an organized system for almost any situation including those when clients drop off boxes full of receipts. I love a challenge!
